ABOUT PROF. LUCAS MEILI
Dr. Lucas Meili is a Full Professor at the Center for Technology at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) in Maceió, Brazil. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande and completed his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos in 2009.
Dr. Meili’s research interests encompass separation processes, water and wastewater treatment, and materials synthesis. He is particularly focused on the adsorption of dyes and pharmaceuticals, as well as the synthesis of biochar, clays, and carbon quantum dots.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals and serves on the editorial boards of several respected publications, including Heliyon (Elsevier), South African Journal of Chemical Engineering (Elsevier) and Journal of Applied Water Engineering and Research (Taylor & Francis). His research, which addresses topics such as pollutant removal, adsorption, and water treatment, emphasizes the application of advanced materials as adsorbents and explores novel synthesis methods.
Dr. Meili’s work is distinguished by its interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science. His contributions aim to enhance environmental sustainability by developing more effective methods and materials for treating water and contaminated wastewater.
